I am honored to have A Herculean Task selected for mentorship by GSQ. As a Clevelander with a long-standing reverence for the wonderful work and people behind The Gordon Square Review and Literary Cleveland. It was truly a privilege to work with Nardine Taleb, her guidance was invaluable.
In many ways, OCD can be all encompassing and consuming. Many effected, myself included, feel immense shame and guilt towards what is clearly intrusive. I hope this piece shows that people are not their thoughts, that masculinity should not be an inhibitor of emotional vulnerability, and that everyone is worthy love, compassion, and connection. This piece portrays the unique circumstances of a particular manifestation of OCD, but I hope to leave a door open for the universal acceptance of innumerable narratives.
